Eligibility Criteria for JoSAA Counselling 2024

To participate in the JoSAA 2024 counselling process, candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Qualified JEE Advanced 2024: For academic programs (excluding preparatory courses) at IITs and ISM, candidates must have passed JEE Advanced 2024 and meet the "Performance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination" criteria.

  2. Qualified JEE Advanced 2024 for Preparatory Courses: Candidates for preparatory courses at IITs and ISM must also meet the "Performance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination" criteria.

  3. JEE Main 2024 Rank: Candidates must have a rank in JEE Main 2024 Paper-1 for BE/BTech programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs. Additionally, they must have passed Class XII (or equivalent) examination* with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects, along with one of Chemistry/Biotechnology/Biology/Technical Vocational subjects, and passed each subject individually.

  4. JEE Main 2024 Rank for BArch/BPlanning: For BArch/BPlanning programs at NITs, IIEST, IIITs, and Other-GFTIs, candidates must have included Mathematics as one of the subjects in Class XII (or equivalent) examination* and passed each subject individually.

JoSAA Counselling Procedure 2024

Step 1: Registration

Log in to the official JoSAA portal using your JEE Main 2024 roll number and password. For those registering for JEE Advanced, use your JEE Advanced password. Confirm your details and note that only contact information can be modified.

Step 2: Fill Choices for Courses and Institutes

After registration, fill in your choices for branches and colleges based on your preferences and qualifications. Arrange them in order of preference by selecting "Arrange Filled Choices."

Step 3: Lock Choices

Once you've filled in your choices, lock them and take a printout for future reference.

Step 4: Seat Allocation

Seats will be allotted based on your rank, choices, and seat availability. Upon seat allocation, you can choose from the following options:

  • Freeze: Accept the seat and do not participate in further rounds.
  • Float: Accept the seat but also consider higher preferences in subsequent rounds.

Step 6: Reporting at the Institute

Report to the allotted institute, pay the remaining fees, and complete other admission-related formalities.
