Comprehensive Overview
The National Testing Agency (NTA) oversees the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) in 13 languages, serving as the sole national-level undergraduate medical entrance exam. NEET UG, conducted annually, opens pathways to 645 medical, 318 dental, 914 AYUSH, and 47 BVSc and AH colleges across India.
In the latest update, NTA has unveiled the NEET UG 2024 exam date on nta.ac.in, setting the stage for over 20 lakh aspirants on May 5. The NEET UG 2024 application form and information brochure will follow suit, providing insights into eligibility, processes, fees, and more. Candidates must complete the NEET registration form 2024 within the NTA's specified timeline.
Successful applicants will receive the NEET 2024 admit card, a mandatory document for exam participation. The hard copy, accompanied by a valid ID, is essential for entry into the exam center. NEET UG 2024, occurring from 2:00 PM to 5:20 PM in pen-and-paper mode, caters to admissions in over 1 lakh MBBS, 27868 BDS, 52,720 AYUSH, 603 BVSc, and AH seats. The NEET 2024 exam pattern involves 200 questions, with candidates required to answer 180. Subjects encompass Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, each carrying 4 marks for a correct answer, with a deduction of one mark for incorrect responses.
Post-exam, NTA releases the NEET 2024 answer key and question paper, offering a challenge window for candidates to dispute by paying Rs 200 for each challenged item. NEET 2024 results are presented in a scorecard, downloadable using the application number, date of birth, and security pin. The previous year's NEET cutoffs for various categories ranged from 720-137 for General, 136-107 for SC/ST/OBC, 136-121 for General-PwD, to 120-107 for SC/ST/OBC-PwD.
Qualifying candidates proceed to the NEET 2024 counseling process conducted by the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC). NEET scores decide admission allocations for 15% All India Quota (AIQ), 85% state quota, deemed/central universities, private colleges, AFMS/ESIC institutes, AIIMS, and JIPMER campuses.
