Atomic Energy Central School, Mysore was founded on 5th March, 1991 with 77 students, 1 regular Teacher, 5 adhoc teachers, 1 LDC and 1 MT Staff, to cater to the educational need of the wards of the employees of the Bhabha Atomic Research Centre(BARC) , Mysore, a unit of BARC, Mumbai. The school was initially housed in the Club House of the residential colony at Yelwal, located about 20 kms from Mysore city. Subsequently, in 1997 the school was shifted to the present building. Presently the school has 520 students, a Principal, Vice Principal, Headmistress, 37 teachers, 2 office staff and 4 MT staff. The School is managed by Atomic Energy Education Society, Mumbai (an Autonomous body under Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India). The school is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi. The first batch of standard X students appeared for the AISSE in March, 1997. Since then the school has been maintaining excellent pass record in the examination. The school has won the Prestigious Vikram Sarabhai trophy awarded for the most progressive school for the period 2002-2005 and the Dr. Homi Bhabha Trophy for overall performance in the academic year 2004 and 2005. Both the awards are constituted by Atomic Energy Education Society, Mumbai.
