About Goa University
Goa University, established under the Goa University Act of 1984, began functioning on 1 June 1985. Recognized under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act, it serves as the premier higher education institution in Goa. The university is located on the scenic Taleigao Plateau, spread across 402 acres with modern academic blocks, hostels, sports facilities, a library, and 24×7 campus-wide internet. It evolved from the Centre of Post-Graduate Instruction and Research (CPIR), earlier run by the University of Bombay after Goa’s liberation. Since 1985, Goa University has offered diverse graduate, postgraduate, and research programs. It follows NEP-2020 with multiple entry–exit options, Academic Bank of Credits, and promotes online learning through SWAYAM and initiatives like Unigoa Pathshala.
