About Central Agricultural University
The Central Agricultural University was established by the Central Agricultural University Act, 1992, which came into effect on 26th January 1993 with notification from the Department of Agricultural Research and Education, Government of India. The university became operational on 13th September 1993 with the joining of its first Vice-Chancellor. Headquartered in Imphal, Manipur, its jurisdiction spans seven North-Eastern Hill States: Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Sikkim, Nagaland, and Tripura. The university aims to advance agricultural education, research, and extension services across these states, contributing to sustainable development, technological innovation, and the socio-economic growth of the region.
