About North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology

North Eastern Regional Institute of Science and Technology (NERIST) is a premier science and technology–focused higher education institution located in Nirjuli, Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh. Established in 1984, NERIST functions as a deemed-to-be university and operates autonomously under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. The institute is fully funded and governed by a Board of Management that includes representatives from the Ministry of Education, the eight beneficiary North Eastern states, AICTE, and eminent educationists. The Governor of Arunachal Pradesh serves as the de facto head of the NERIST Society, the highest decision-making body, which includes the education ministers of all North Eastern states. The Board of Management is chaired by the appointed Chairman.
