About William Carey University
William Carey University is built on a unique vision to redefine higher education by integrating academic learning with the socio-economic and environmental realities of Northeast India. At a time when many universities function as isolated academic hubs or degree mills, WCU aims to break this pattern and create meaningful, community-centered education. The university was established through the Gazette of Meghalaya No. 76 under the William Carey Act 2005, authorizing ACTS to set up the institution in Shillong. With its foundation now laid, the university has begun functioning and will seek UGC recognition in due course.
