Maharaja Agrasen Himalayan Garhwal University, MAHGU, was established and incorporated under Government of Uttarakhand Act No. 33 of 2016, through Notification no. XXXVI 3/2016/48 1/2016 of Uttarakhand Shashan Vidhayee and Sansdiya Karyavibhag, and under Section 2 f of the University Grant Commission UGC Act 1956. The university is located in a peaceful, pollution free environment close to the natural beauty of the Garhwal ranges of the Shivalik hills.
