About Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Science & Technology
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Jammu (SKUAST-Jammu) was established on 20 September 1999 under the amended SKUAST Act, 1982, to promote region-specific education, research, and extension in agriculture. The university focuses on enhancing agricultural production, livestock health, and quality products, while training skilled graduates for development departments. It comprises faculties of Agriculture, Basic Sciences, Veterinary Sciences & Animal Husbandry, Horticulture & Forestry, Dairy Technology, Agricultural Engineering, and Biotechnology. SKUAST-Jammu is a multi-campus university with headquarters at Chatha (578 acres) and R.S. Pura campus (84 acres), totaling 1223 acres including research stations and KVKs. It actively transfers technologies to farmers through adoptive trials, demonstrations, and training programs across ten research stations and nine KVKs.
