About Bihar Animal Sciences University
Bihar Animal Sciences University (BASU), headquartered in Patna, was established under the BASU Act No. 15 of 2016, notified on 29 August 2016. The university became functional on 13 June 2017 with the appointment of its first Vice-Chancellor. Formed by reorganizing Bihar Agricultural University, BASU now includes Bihar Veterinary College and the Sanjay Gandhi Institute of Dairy Technology, both located in Patna. In 2018, the university further expanded with the establishment of the College of Fisheries. To strengthen its academic, research, and outreach capabilities, several research institutes, stations, and substations are being transferred to BASU. The university is focused on advancing education, research, and innovation in veterinary, dairy, and fisheries sciences across Bihar.
