About Mahatma Gandhi Central University
Mahatma Gandhi Central University (MGCU) was established through the Central Universities Amendment Act, 2014, and became functional on 3 February 2016. Located in Motihari on National Highway 28, the university has grown into a strong center for higher education. It offers a wide range of Undergraduate, Postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD programs across 7 schools and 20 departments, supported by experienced and dedicated faculty. Motihari holds historic significance as the place where Mahatma Gandhi began the 1917 Satyagraha. Inspired by his values of truth and non-violence, MGCU is committed to nurturing responsible, ethical, and knowledgeable learners.
