JOHAR Welcome to Birla Institute of Technology (BIT) Mesra, one of the oldest Institutes of Technology in independent India, founded in 1955 by visionary industrialist and philanthropist Mr. B. M. Birla. Located in Ranchi, the capital of Jharkhand, the campus is surrounded by the region’s rich mineral resources and the natural beauty of forests, hills, and waterfalls. Over more than six decades, BIT Mesra has grown into one of the leading self-financed engineering institutions in the country. Recognized as a Deemed to be University by the UGC in 1986 under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956, the Institute offers strong foundations in traditional engineering fields while embracing emerging technologies, innovation, and modern scientific applications.
