About National University of Study & Research in Law

NUSRL was established through an Act of the State Legislature, inspired by the vision of Indias constitutional founders who recognized that law, legal systems and legal institutions play a vital role in the social, political and economic development of the nation. Law, as a powerful social process, strengthens democracy and supports the rule of law. With its rich heritage of legal culture and traditions, India in the 21st century must continue on a path where law acts as a catalyst in achieving constitutional goals and contributes to India’s growth as a developed nation. To fulfil these objectives, the study and structure of law require fresh perspectives and innovative approaches. Over the past two decades, this need has led to the establishment of National Law Universities across the country. NUSRL has been created with this vision—to promote a modern, progressive orientation in legal education, strengthen legal institutions, and deepen the connection of law with other disciplines.
