About Calicut University
The University of Calicut (UoC), established in 1968, is Keralas second and largest university in terms of area, affiliated colleges, and degrees awarded. Serving the Malabar region, including several educationally backward districts, the university follows the motto Nirmaya Karmana Sreeβprosperity through pure actions. UoC has grown into a major residential and affiliating institution with 34 postgraduate departments and 406 affiliated colleges, governed by the Calicut University Act of 1975. The main campus at Tenhipalam, 24 km from Kozhikode, hosts the Vice Chancellorβs office, administrative blocks, Pareeksha Bhavan, School of Distance Education, teaching departments, UGC HRD Centre, EMRC, CHMK Library, and other key academic facilities. 1637
