About Central Sanskrit University
The Central Sanskrit University holds the unique distinction of being the largest and only multi-campus language university in the world. It also serves as the nodal agency for implementing Sanskrit-related policies and schemes of the Government of India, working closely with the Ministry of Education. The President of India is the Visitor of the University. The Union Minister of Education serves as the Chancellor. Prof. Shrinivasa Varakhedi is the current Vice Chancellor. Sanskrit language and literature have played an essential role in shaping many Indian and international languages. They form the foundation of India’s ancient cultural heritage, a legacy that stretches back to time immemorial. Even today, Sanskrit stands as a repository of timeless wisdom and is one of the strongest forces unifying India’s vast social, cultural, and geographical diversity.
