Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) is one of India’s foremost institutions and a globally respected centre for teaching and research. Ranked number one in India by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with an exceptional Grade Point of 3.91 on a scale of 4, JNU was placed at number three among all Indian universities in the 2016 National Institutional Ranking Framework and number two in 2017. In the same year, the University received the Best University Award from the President of India. Established by an Act of Parliament in 1966, JNU is a relatively young university, yet it has earned a remarkable reputation.
