About Swami Rama Himalayan University

H H Dr Swami Rama was a yogi, philosopher, scientist and humanitarian whose life bridged the worlds of spirituality and modern science. Mentored by great figures such as Mahatma Gandhi, Sri Aurobindo and Rabindranath Tagore, he pursued higher studies in India and at Oxford. He later served as a medical consultant in London and carried out parapsychological research in Moscow. Following the guidance of his master, Bengali Baba, Swami Rama travelled across the world to unite scientific understanding with spiritual wisdom. His journey led to the establishment of several institutions devoted to holistic health and spiritual development. In 1966, he founded Sadhana Mandir in Rishikesh to spread the practice of Raja Yoga and promote complete well-being. His vision expanded further with the creation of the Himalayan Institute of Yoga Science and Philosophy in the United States in 1971, where he advanced pioneering research demonstrating the profound influence of the mind on the body. 1238
