The Government of Rajasthan prioritized strengthening agricultural education, research, and extension to support livelihood security and sustainable growth. A dedicated Agricultural University was first established in Bikaner in 1987. Later, due to the diverse agro-climatic conditions across the state, the Agricultural University, Kota was created on September 14, 2013, through the bifurcation of MPUAT Udaipur and SKRAU Bikaner under Act No. 22 of 2013. The University became fully functional on September 23, 2013, with the appointment of its first Vice Chancellor. Its jurisdiction covers constituent colleges, research centres, sub-centres, and Krishi Vigyan Kendras across six districts of South-East Rajasthan—Kota, Baran, Bundi, Jhalawar, Karauli, and Sawai Madhopur. 1668
