BLDE (Deemed to be University) is a well-known medical university in Karnataka, located on a spacious campus in Vijayapura (formerly Bijapur). It was declared a university under Section 3 of the UGC Act 1956 and approved by the Ministry of Human Resource Development. Established under the BLDE Association—one of Karnataka’s leading educational societies—the university offers a wide range of medical programs. Shri B. M. Patil Medical College provides MBBS with an intake of 250 students, 21 postgraduate disciplines, a super-specialty M.Ch. in Urology, PhD programs in 17 fields, and various fellowship, diploma, and certificate courses in medical and allied sciences. The college, founded in 1986, also houses a modern hospital and research centre supporting advanced learning and healthcare services. 1426
