About St. Aloysius
St Aloysius College, now a Deemed to be University, is part of a global network of educational institutions administered by the Society of Jesus, a renowned religious order that manages schools, colleges, and universities in more than 105 countries across the world. Established in 1880, St Aloysius carries a proud legacy of 145 years. Although it is a minority institution, the university has always provided high quality and value based education to students from all sections of society, regardless of caste, colour, or creed. The motto of the university, Lucet et Ardet, meaning Shine to Enkindle, reflects its mission of inspiring students to become men and women for and with others. This philosophy has motivated generations of learners to spread knowledge, compassion, and hope. Jesuit education continues to be a benchmark for new and evolving paradigms in higher education. 1436
