Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University, established to commemorate the quincentenary of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji—the ninth Sikh Guru—is dedicated to preserving and promoting his teachings of truth, compassion, harmony, and universal brotherhood. Born in 1621, Guru Teg Bahadur Ji is remembered for his supreme sacrifice in defence of religious freedom. The University, functioning as both a residential and affiliating institution under the Sri Guru Teg Bahadur State University Act of 1969, aims to advance education and research across diverse fields, including humanities, sciences, technology, and professional studies. With a strong emphasis on ethical values, the University promotes Punjabi language, conducts research on the Guru’s life and philosophy, and expands educational access for marginalized communities.
