About Nehru Gram Bharati
Nehru Gram Bharati Deemed to be University holds a distinguished place among rural universities in India. Established on 27 June 2008 on the banks of the Ganges in Uttar Pradesh, it was originally envisioned by the first Prime Minister of India, Pt. Jawahar Lal Nehru, who laid its foundation stone on 26 July 1962 at Rishi Durvasha Ashram in his Phulpur constituency. His vision was carried forward by Sri J N Misra, dedicated to educating and uplifting rural communities. Today, the campus has grown into a major center for professional, technical, and traditional education. Rajiv Gandhi Degree College, started in 1996 and upgraded in 2000, was merged into the university when it received Deemed to be University status in 2008.
