About Bharath Institute of Higher Education & Research
Sri Lakshmi Ammal Educational Trust was founded with a mission to transform higher education in Tamil Nadu. In 1984, under the leadership of Dr. S. Jagathrakshakan, the Trust launched the Bharath Institute of Science and Technology, the state’s first self-financing engineering college. This landmark initiative paved the way for further expansion into medical and allied health sciences. In 1989, the Trust established Sree Balaji Dental College and Hospital, which soon earned national recognition. In July 2002, it was declared a Deemed to be University under Section 3 of the UGC Act, leading to the formation of Bharath Institute of Higher Education and Research, a growing hub of quality institutions. 1520
