About Thiruvalluvar University
Thiruvalluvar University was established in October 2002 by the Government of Tamil Nadu under Act 32/2002 and is named after the great Tamil poet Thiruvalluvar. Located on a 112.68-acre campus at Serkkadu near Vallimalai, about 16 km from Vellore, it is a member of the Association of Indian Universities. The University aims to advance research and disseminate knowledge with special focus on the economic, social, and educational upliftment of marginalized communities in Vellore, Thiruvannamalai, Villupuram, and Cuddalore districts. It works to empower rural populations, including Adivasis, Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Most Backward Classes, and Denotified Communities, by providing quality higher education and promoting social development. 1732
