Tamil Nadu Dr. J. Jayalalithaa Fisheries University (TNJFU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2012 to promote education, research and extension in fisheries and allied sciences. Headquartered in Nagapattinam, it offers undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in areas such as aquaculture, fish nutrition, biotechnology, fisheries engineering and food technology. The University includes several constituent colleges, research institutes, farms and training centres across the state. TNJFU follows the SAU education model and is accredited by ICAR. With a focus on innovation, skill development and fisheries-based livelihood support, the University works to advance sustainable fisheries and improve food and nutritional security.
