Sir Theagaraya College is one of the oldest college in the Chennai was started in 1950 located in Tamilnadu. This affiliated college located in a 4.5 acre area has been catering to the academic needs for more than seventy two years. Having been accredited by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Sir Theagaraya College provides a large number of undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral studies. A total of 1646 students and faculty of 112 assure a proper environment for education in the college. At present, the institution provides 28 courses under 9 different degree programmes covering Arts, Science, Commerce, and Computer applications fields. Sir Theagaraya College has a variety of facilities that seek to complement the learning process of the college students today. The rich library that provides internet access contributes to knowledge acquisition, independence and impartial learning. As for sports enthusiasts, the college offers one of the best facilities meant to improve their sportsmanship and physical wellness. Using auditorium for different events and seminars are organised along with other aspects of learning, discussing and performing. The college also possesses stylish laboratories for various departments as well to support practical knowledge and research. Some of the most sought after undergraduate programmes are BA Historical Studies , B.Sc Mathematics, B.Sc Physics , Computer Science, B.Sc Chemistry , B.Com and BCA . Postgraduate courses include MA Historical Studies, MA Economics, M.Sc Zoology and M.Com. For research minded students, the college offers Ph.D. classes in Historical Studies, Economics, Zoology , Commerce, Tamil & English in both full time and part time. Sir Theagaraya College has put structures in place with regard to the admission process in the college so as to enroll deserving students into various programmes offered in this college.
